The Norn are a race of nine-foot tall Nordic-like warriors that currently inhabit parts of Kryta and the abandoned dwarven fortresses in the Shiverpeak Mountains. The individualistic Norn live for the hunt, so their tracking, stealth and killing skills make them invaluable allies in any combat situation. The largest gathering of Norn one can expect to find outside trading posts is in hunting parties that have united to combat a powerful foe.
— In-game description
During character creation, a player can customize a norn's physical appearance and answer three race specific biography questions which affect their personal story:
- What is the most important quality of a great hero.
- What happened at a recent celebratory moot in Hoelbrak.
- Which of the four main Spirits of the Wild offered its guardianship.
Bear: Represents fortitude and self-reliance and is said to be the mightiest of all the animal spirits in the norn culture.
Raven: Represents cunning, trickery, and knowledge and is the animal spirit of the norn that is associated with the Underworld and the spirits of the dead.
Snow Leopard: Represents independence, strategy, and laughter in the face of danger and is considered to be stealthy and solitary.
Wolf: Represents the virtues of loyalty, ferocity, and strength in numbers and is often invoked for help in tracking the norn's prey.
Selecting a Norn character will start players off in the tutorial The Great Hunt where the players gather trophies to participate in the great hunt.
The Norn home instance is in the Hoelbrak centering in the Great Lodge.
Norn racial skills are related to their spirits.
